Do you love design, but want to have more of an impact on the world?

Role Description

We are looking for a Senior Digital Designer to join our Design team. This role will work across all three business units - Lightful Learning, Lightful Solutions and Lightful Products - and will therefore work on a wide variety of projects: from crafting delightful user interfaces for our Lightful Social Platform to designing prototypes that wow clients and creating assets for our brand architecture.

One of the reasons the Co-founders started Lightful was to bring the power of technology and great design to the nonprofit sector, so as a result we take great pride and put a lot of emphasis on our design capabilities.

Who we are

Lightful is a B-Corp business, who believes those doing the greatest good, deserve the best technology. Our products and services are designed for charities and nonprofits to simplify their work and amplify their impact. We offer three services to charities and nonprofits; Lightful Products, Lightful Learning and Lightful Solutions. Each service is different but highly interconnected, designed for the different needs of the social and environmental-focused organisations we’re proud to serve and work with.

Since achieving B Corp status in 2020, we have created an impact out of the office too. We have planted 12,371 trees planted through our employee carbon offset programme, saved 295,497 litres of water, and offset 1,107 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide emissions through 28 global carbon reduction projects.

You can read more about our products and services as well as our purpose, mission and values on our website.

You will...

  • Have a passion for design, great attention to detail, value simplicity and be highly collaborative
  • Have an impressive portfolio, with projects demonstrating your creativity and skills
  • Lead our design standards within the design team and the wider business
  • Ensure we are following best practices and our designs are accessible to all of our users
  • Provide support and guidance to other team members and across the company as required
  • Keep up to date with industry trends and developments

You should apply if you:

  • Live for design best practices and trends in web/mobile/digital design
  • Are motivated by designing experiences that make a major difference to our customers and the communities they serve across the world
  • Thrive in a highly collaborative environment, but are equally capable of taking the initiative where necessary
  • Have knowledge of WCAG 2.0 accessibility standards, can design to AA standard, and championing accessibility internally
  • Have knowledge of good design principles like typography, white space and colour
  • Have a varied and robust portfolio of projects showing and demonstrating varied experience
  • Have experience working with an Agile software development team
  • Are a great communicator
  • Have a fun and can-do attitude (essential!)

Having experience of a few of the below would be beneficial:

  • Experience with a mature UI design system, i.e. Bootstrap or Salesforce Lightning Design System
  • Building wireframes and interactive prototypes for user testing
  • Understanding and interpreting user research and product requirements
  • Building UIs based on atomic design principles or Web Components
  • Using Figma
  • Solid understanding of UX and usability best practices
  • Video editing, and experience with tools like Adobe Creative Cloud

What we do

  • The design team is composed of four other staff members, each with expertise in digital, graphic, or user experience design
  • Work in two-week sprints, planning work using JIRA and running retrospectives
  • Our design standards are set very high, and we openly collaborate and feed back on each others’ work
  • Conduct regular user testing and work closely with the Relationship Managers or Project Managers to ensure we understand our users, or clients’ users, and their needs
  • Support our Lightful Solutions colleagues on projects, ranging from rapid prototyping, accessibility reviews, or designing brand assets

You will be a part of our exciting culture that fosters personal growth and development. As we expand, you will be given the opportunity to thrive in a close-knit team environment.
